Dr. Nehal Patel

Dr. Nehal Patel is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon based in Surat, with a practice centred on temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, and cleft lip and palate care. He is among a small number of surgeons in India performing both TMJ arthroscopy and total joint replacement, and he has lectured on these techniques at national and international meetings.

His training began with a dental degree from the Government Dental College & Hospital, Ahmedabad, followed by a Master’s in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. He completed a Fellowship in Cleft & Craniofacial Surgery in 2006 and, in 2017, a Mini Residency in TMJ Arthroscopy & Total Joint Replacement.

In 2008 he established a comprehensive cleft care centre in Surat, and in 2022 he founded a dedicated Comprehensive TMJ and Orthognathic Surgical Unit at the same hospital. Alongside clinical work, he contributes to the training of the next generation of surgeons as Director of the AOMSI Orthognathic Fellowship programme and as faculty on the international TMJ Surgery Mini Residency.
